Time Out says

North of the city, this Brunswick haven includes a small vegetable farm, chook pen, permaculture and bush nursery and community kitchen in the park surrounds. Believe it or not the CERES estate used to be a barren plot of land when it was first established in 1982. Anyone of the 400,000 yearly visitors can attest to how verdant the grounds have become since then. For anyone interest in permaculture and sustainable living, a visit to CERES is inspiring (and you'll probably pick up a tip or two).

Keen to get involved? The park’s rambling paths lead to community kitchens, a weekly marketplace and several education centres.

Weed Dating at CERES

  • Singles activities

CERES is sowing the seeds of love this spring and summer, inviting Melbourne singles to get a little grubby in the garden while meeting new people. If you've got a green thumb and are looking for a special someone to share your veggie patch with, then ditch the dating apps and grab a shovel to get digging.  At Weed Dating, you can get down to the root of your dating desires with potential like-minded suitors (and weed out the wrong 'uns) at the picturesque urban farm Joe's Market Garden in Coburg. There'll be facilitated conversations and activities, and whether you find a new lover, friend (or anything in between), you can go for your first coffee date at CERES Farm Gate store afterwards.  The event is open to anyone over the age of 18 and warmly welcomes all genders and sexualities. Previous Weed Dating catch-ups have already grown some bloomin' good success stories, so your chance of love blossoming is strong. The September event is sold out, but there is availability in the October and December sessions. There'll be a special edition of Weed Dating in November as part of Urban Agriculture month, held in the evening of Saturday, November 11, with live local music plus food and drinks. Tickets for the October session are available now here.  For all the details, check out the CERES website.  Wondering where to go for a dinner date? Here's our list of the best date-night restaurants.
