Now I have to edit that #3 applies to my son, not #10.
He is 11 now and wrote a memoir piece at school again in the first quarter. His teacher pointed out that only thing he is missing is he doesn’t share his thoughts and feelings as much though getting better. I asked him and that’s right, he doesn’t want to share his thoughts and feelings in front of teachers and friends that he doesn’t know much. He could write a memoir piece better in the last quarter of the school year.

He is also good at research based piece. Now he is 10 and wrote a piece of memoir at school. His grammar and vocabulary is great, but he cannot convey his emotions in a story. I was researching how to help him and found this page. #10 seems to be exactly my son.

Trying to get him to write more than a few words is like pulling teeth and I can see how it’s a barrier to being able to complete tasks in line with his other abilities. I’m also concerned that when he does go back to school, they may not be as understanding or flexible when it comes to ways he’s allowed to write. I’m looking more into dysgraphia but hoping it’s just something he will grow out of with time, patience and practice.
