We recognize Einstein, Edison, Roosevelt, Ghandi as creative contributors. He states that our belief in the individual is esteemed over the culture, family, or institution that nurtured the individual. In addition, we typcially do not recognize the creative contributor in the moment. The article connects this assertion to educators: “As educators, it can be difficult to evaluate evidence of student creativity. We do not hold the retrospective view.” On a practical level, I enjoyed learning about six goals for parents and educators to promote creativity:
1. develop intellectual risk-taking.
2. implement problem based learning
3. develop deep knowledge base, deep learning
4. develop strong communication skills
5. develop passion and personal motivation through exposure to culture and events, etc.
6. nurture broad based reading – my favorite since I am a librarian.

Although I don’t consider myself a creative person, I am a hard worker and will work at something for an extended period of time until it is done correctly or throughly. Is that in itself creative?
In the classroom I find many very intelligent students who do not tap into this type of creativity – and yet I see so many of my nonGT students who are extremely hard working.
Overall this article did a good job of giving a well rounded idea of what creativity means.
