関連記事 『This spectacular island country is the fastest-growing destination among Gen Z travellers(原文)』 『スカイスキャナーの人気旅行先ランキング、日本の3都市が10位以内に』 『今訪れるべき世界の村とは?

An Ibiza beach club is opening a rooftop bar in London

An Ibiza beach club is opening a rooftop bar in London

Ever been strolling the busy streets of Shoreditch and thought: ‘God, I wish I was in Ibiza right now?’. That might be a bit of a stretch, but if you have, you’re in luck. Soon you won’t have to go too far for some Mediterranean vibes, as an iconic Ibiza beach club brand is set to soon open an outpost in the area.  Blue Marlin Ibiza, a luxury restaurant and beach club which already has locations in Gran Canaria, the UAE, Mexico, and – you guessed it – Ibiza, will soon be taking over part of the Mondrian hotel with a monster, three-storey location.  The private members club will feature a bunch of amenities including no less than a rooftop pool and terrace with city views, a sushi bar, spa, lounge space, gym, nightclub and, just to even out all the fun, a co-working area.  There’ll be bags of events, DJ sets and other bits of live music to christen the terrace, and plenty of boogieing to be had in the nightclub. The restaurant will be rustling a delicious fusion of Japanese and Mediterranean cuisine – with all that to enjoy, it’s gonna take some real willpower to concentrate on answering emails.  Founder of Blue Marlin Ibiza Jelle Oomes said the opening of a branch in London is a ‘significant milestone’ for the brand, when speaking to the Standard. And even more excitingly, there’s not long to wait – Blue Marlin Ibiza London is due to open in early December. You can subscribe to news about it here.  Fancy getting an early peek at the building? A new sleeper train from Rome to the Dolomites is launching soon

A new sleeper train from Rome to the Dolomites is launching soon

Earlier this year, Italy announced the launch of a series of vintage trains for tourists in a bid to encourage more sustainable travel, and excitingly, the first one is about to depart.  Given that ski season is right around the corner, there couldn’t be a better time for the launch of this sleeper train, which will take travellers from Rome to Cortina d’Ampezzo, a world-famous resort in the Dolomites. Departing from Rome Termini on Friday evenings, the Espresso Cadore train will carry travellers north through breath-taking mountain views, and arrive in the resort by Saturday morning.  The plan is for the 220-bed service to run every week from December 15, with tickets going live on the Trenitalia website tomorrow (November 18). And there’ll be a few options to choose from: first and second-class two-person carriages, or four and six-person sleepers for bigger groups.  The Italian rail operator behind all the new trains, Ferrovie dello Stato, is keen to encourage more sustainable travel by transforming the journey into part of the holiday. And with a restaurant car, all-night bar, scenic views and storage for all your ski equipment, it sounds like they’ve achieved just that.  But like we said, this is just one of some truly dazzling new routes that are in the works. Also due to depart are some luxury alternatives on already popular lines, as well as new slower-paced regional trains to spotlight lesser known areas.  You can read more about our coverage of the new vintage train

London’s legendary Batman-themed restaurant just got an ‘iceberg lounge’

London’s legendary Batman-themed restaurant just got an ‘iceberg lounge’

If an homage to Gotham City tucked away under the streets of Soho wasn’t exciting enough, hold on to your cowls. There’s an all-new ‘Iceberg Lounge’ that’s just opened, courtesy of The Penguin himself.  London’s DC-inspired restaurant Park Row last Friday (November 10) launched a menu of Japanese cocktails and dishes inspired by the villainous Oswald Cobblepot, and it sounds rather luxurious.  Who says being a villain has to be a life of wretched food? At this place, you’ll gorge on grandeur – The Penguin does love seafood, after all.  The large circular bar in the centre of the restaurant has been transformed into an opulent spot to enjoy oysters and caviar, and there’s a new champagne counter at the front of the venue, too. Fancy.  Thanks to chef Raymond Steplin, the restaurant will be graced with a whole host of exciting dishes. Some Gotham-inspired highlights include mushroom umbrella-shaped parfait and ‘scare’ crow-croquettes with gochujang aioli. There’s even a truffle tuna tartare, but we’re not so sure about that.  Alongside some live music and desserts which reference the iconic likes of Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn, Park Row sounds like a whole lot more than just your average dinner out.

関連記事 『Michelangelo’s secret drawing room is set to open to the public for the first time(原文)』 『「日本中の美術館がまねするだろう」、村上隆の8年ぶり大規模個展が京都で開催』 『世界で最も人気のある村はどこ?

Only four London boroughs saw property prices rise in 2023

Only four London boroughs saw property prices rise in 2023

It might not surprise you to learn that at Time out, we think London is a pretty great place to live. However, with everything from the price of a pint to the cost of rent (especially in these five postcodes) only getting higher, living in the capital is just so expensive. And it feels like it’s always getting harder to afford living here.  And that’s why it’s quite surprising to hear that of all the boroughs across the city, only four witnessed an increase in property prices this year.  The west London borough of Ealing witnessed the largest hike, with property prices increasing by 7.5 percent in the third quarter of 2023, compared to the same period in 2022, according to Halifax.  That increase means the average property price in Ealing is now £531,137, and it’s apparently largely thanks to billions of pounds of investment into new homes and amenities, and the fact that Crossrail has drastically cut journey times to central London. Dazzling new houses and a super-speedy commute? Yep, that’ll make somewhere more attractive to live.  Westminster and the City of London were the second place (after all, the City isn’t a borough) that has seen an increase in property prices, by around 7.4 percent. However, there aren’t actually that many homes here, so data on the prices can be pretty volatile and not reflective as a whole.  Prices in Haringey were up by 1.7 percent to £530,584, and Southwark saw a very small increase of 0.3 percent to £481,589.  Powys in Wales topped the overal
