Tokyo’s Trunk Hotel, just off Cat Street near Harajuku, paved the way for trendy, boutique hotels within central Shibuya. The hip accommodation lets you explore the best of Shibuya while offering amenities and experiences based around the local neighbourhood. Now, two new Trunk Hotels are coming to Tokyo, including the brand new Trunk Hotel Yoyogi Park, which opened today, Friday September 1.

Trunk Hotel Yoyogi Park is a cosy, intimate property, with just 25 rooms including five suites. It's situated in Shibuya’s trendy Tomigaya neighbourhood, just across the street from Yoyogi Park and minutes from many cute coffee shops and restaurants in the area.

The highlight of the new hotel is the gorgeous rooftop bar and outdoor infinity pool overlooking the lush Yoyogi Park grounds.

The seven-storey building was the work of architect Keiji Ashizawa and with interiors designed by Copenhagen-based Norm Architects. Natural materials including wood, copper and washed concrete were used throughout the property, giving it an organic feel.

Aside from the five suites, you can choose between two types of standard rooms: Park View which faces Yoyogi, or City View that faces the streets of Tomigaya. All 25 rooms feature spacious balconies filled with lush plants brought in from Australia to contrast against the greenery found in the park.

The exclusive Owner's Suite sits on the penthouse floor and overlooks the hotel's rooftop pool. This stunning suite has a relaxing living room filled with art as well as an open-air shower and bathing area looking out to the park grounds.

Pizzeria e Trattoria L'ombelico, the hotel's all-day dining restaurant, is located on the first floor. It's also open to non-staying guests. Here, you can dine on pizzas baked in a wood-fired oven imported from Italy, pasta and an assortment of antipasti. The drink selection is equally tempting, offering a well-curated selection of natural wines, beer and craft sodas.
