If you're hoping to hitch a ride to the North Pole this Christmas, look no further than our very own Puffing Billy. From December 9 to 17, the historic steam train will get a festive makeover and transform into the Polar Express, inspired by the classic holiday book and animated flick of the same name.
Two 90-minute services will be offered each day, with the train chugging along from Lakeside to Menzies Creek. A conductor will be waiting at the platform to punch your golden ticket, and there will be live theatrical performances, an arts and crafts zone, a letter to Santa workshop and Christmas carols.
An ice-cold chocolate milk and a cookie should keep you fuelled for the journey, but there are also options to pre-order grazing boxes or meals at the Railway Café. Best of all, we hear the big man himself is making an appearance – there will be plenty of opportunities to take a snap with Santa and his merry crew of helpers.
